Why this matters

Foggy headlights aren't just ugly. They're dangerous.

A yellowed headlight lens cuts your night-driving visibility by up to 75%. That's not a marketing stat — that's the kind of thing the NHTSA writes papers about. Restored lenses throw a brighter, whiter, farther beam, which means you see the deer before the deer sees you.

The vanity bonus: clear headlights make a car look five years younger in photos. If you're selling or trading in, this is the cheapest curb-appeal upgrade available.

Real questions, real answers

Common questions about headlight restoration.

Plain English on what the process covers, how long it lasts, and when restoration isn't enough.

  • How much does headlight restoration cost?

$129 for both headlights, fully restored. Includes a UV-resistant clear coat so they don't cloud back up in 6 months. One hour of work, drop-off and pickup same day.

  • How long does it take?

About 1 hour. We sand off the oxidized layer, polish the lens back to optical clarity, and apply a UV-resistant clear coat. Drop-off and pickup the same day.

  • Will my headlights stay clear, or cloud back up?

They stay clear. The cheap shop version (and the YouTube DIY) skip the UV-resistant clear coat — that's why those repairs fog over again in 6 months. We always apply the coat. Owners typically get 2–3 years before any noticeable re-clouding.

  • What if just one headlight is bad?

Same flat $129 — both lenses get the treatment. Doing one alone makes the other look noticeably worse by comparison; treating the pair keeps them matched. Best value either way.

  • Why do headlights cloud up in the first place?

Modern headlights are polycarbonate plastic, not glass. UV from sunlight slowly oxidizes the outer layer, causing the cloudy yellow haze. The plastic underneath is fine — restoration removes the damaged outer microns and seals against future UV exposure.

  • Is this safer than buying new headlights?

Restoration recovers ~90% of original brightness for $129. New OEM headlight assemblies on most cars run $400–$1,200 each, plus install. Restoration is the right call unless the housing itself is cracked or the reflectors inside are damaged.
